Voodoo Donut--The Magic is in the Hole

Voodoo Donut, another reason to come and visit me in Oregon, is a Portland gem that is known for its unusual and experimental doughnut recipes and all-night hours. You can even get married at Voodoo Donut! They perform legal weddings with doughnuts and coffee for the reception. Voodoo Doughnut is also known for its Swahili lessons on Monday nights at 9:00.

Pictured is the namesake "Voodoo Donut" complete with pretzel sticks to torture and berry filling which looks like blood and guts.

They also have cereal-based doughnuts, covered with Cap'n Crunch, Cocoa Puffs and even one with chocolate Rice Krispies and peanutbutter on it.

Like Homer said, "mmmMMMmmmmm. Doughnuts." :) Also check out Saint Cupcake.

Today someone asked me how I keep my life interesting...

Someone commented to me today that I'm always off of an adventure and excited about something and asked me to tell them how they might "keep (their) life interesting."

My response:

Keep your life interesting by poising at least a small part of it on the edge of constant chaos. Transformation and change are natural. Don't be afraid of the unknown or unplanned. If you wait around long enough for the "right time" to do things, you'll be old, decrepet and full of regret for letting life pass you by.

I've had way too many people tell me to live life while I'm young for me to ignore it.

Debt-for-nature swap will protect rainforests in Guatemala

The U.S. doing something good. Yes. It's true.
U.S. to Cut Guatemala’s Debt for Not Cutting Trees

Also, I read an article today about the predicted extreme drought that will be widespread over the coming century. Basically, British climate scientists are predicting that millions of lives will be endangered by droughts affecting half of the planet's land surfance by 2100. Nearly a third of the land surface could be rendered agriculturally useless.

I plan on getting as self-sufficient as possible over the next ten years. Good thing for all the rain in Oregon.
